Sea Roots - Sea Front zone is a two bedroom house located in front of the famous natural rock pools in Mosteiros, São Miguel island, Azores. It consists of two double bedrooms with shared large bathroom, lounge, equipped kitchen and dinning area, as well as outside dinning and relaxing area. It suits up to 4 people and is part of a property where we also live. Just cross the road for a swim in crystal clear pools, and enjoy the most amazing sunsets while dining outside, this house is perfect for a relaxing holiday! In our "Garden Zone", more to the back of the property, we also have two independent units with one double bedroom, private bathroom, kitchen, garden and barbecue area.

Our moved from New Zealand in 2015 and been recovering this property in order to live a simple life, growing our own food and raising our children in close contact with nature. Douglas enjoys surfing and fishing, and he's done the majority of the carpentry work in the property (we only use local sourced timber). Tania loves gardening, yoga and permaculture. Our son Sansho loves insects, swimming, surfing and skateboarding. Our baby twins Jade and Jasmim, born in the island, made an unexpected addition to our multicultural family of two kiwis and one Portuguese (me). Last but not least, our two friendly dogs, Poncho, the charming beagle, and the sweet Bean. In the effort of minimising our environmental impact, we have an ecological hot water system, low consumption lighting and we encourage our guests to separate compostable materials and recycle.

Mosteiros is located northwest of São Miguel island and is a favorite for holidays amongst the island residents, for its great weather, natural swimming pools, beautiful black sand beach with its famous rock formations that name the town, and the absolutely amazing sun sets over the ocean, which can only be contemplated from the western tip. One of the most consistent spots for surfing in the island, rocky point breaks with fun waves and one of the best places for rock fishing and spearfishing, diving, snorkeling and bird watching, directly across the road from the property. With some luck you may even see whales and dolphins passing by. For those who enjoy hikes, there are several marked trails that can be started straight from the house, to the water springs or the top of the Sete Cidades vulcano to view it’s stunning green and blue lagoons, one of the island most iconic spots. There’s also a tunnel that will take you to Sete Cidades village. In town there is also a whale and dolphin watching charter, which also runs sunset cruises between Mosteiros and Ferraria, a thermal salt water pool in the ocean, where water reaches above 30ºC. This spot is located only 9 Km away.
